Mike Parsons is a professional surfer, born in 1965 in California. He famously won the Billabong XXL competition in 2001 for surfing a 66-foot wave at Cortes Bank, CA. The video above is from the movie Billabong Odyssey, and shows Parsons surfing what was widely believed to be the largest wave ever surfed. He has since surpassed his own record, with a 70+ footer in 2008. The helicopter shot was taken at Jaws, a surfing spot in Maui famous for its unpredictably huge waves, which can top 70 feet and reach 30 mph.
