Last Wednesday (March 18) an underwater volcano about 10 km off the coast of Tonga began to erupt. The Kingdom of Tonga is an archipelago of 171 islands located in the South Pacific Ocean between New Zeland and Hawaii. The force of the volcano spewed ash, smoke, and steam more than 300 ft above the water. Below is a video and some images of the eruption as well as map of the Kingdom of Tonga.
