POTD: Ice Hotels
Ice hotels are some of the coolest buildings in the world. Each year, ice is harvested and stored during the winter and early spring in order carve the sculptures and other decorations ahead of time. The next winter, the snow is placed over a metallic grid work for the rooms and hallways of the hotel. After the ice has settled, the metal framework is removed and dividing walls are built to section off the rooms. This process is repeated each year, with magnificent results. The pictures above and below are some of the various rooms in the hotels, including guest rooms and a hotel bar. It would be so tight to stay in one of these hotels, except it would be very, very cold.
