Incredible Macro Insect Photos

Macro pictures are incredibly interesting because they let us view their subject from an entirely new perspective. The modern definition of a macro lens is that it is able to focus on a subject close enough so that when a regular 6×4 inch (15×10 cm) print is made, the image is life-size or larger. This requires a magnification ratio of only approximately 1:4. The difficulty with macro photography is that the depth of field must be very low to achieve the best focus which means that the camera and object must stay very still. Even an object that is one millimeter off can lead to a blurry picture. As you can imagine, insects do not like to stay still, which makes these all the more impressive.
