We Major: Album of the Week
This week, I choose the We Major Mixtape by Fort Minor as the album of the week. I apologize about the lack of a tight album the previous week, but it was the end of semester so all the admins had an overwhelming number of tests and projects to complete. Anyway, on to the mixtape.
I chose the album because of its beats and lyrics, which combined create some of the best “underground” rap I’ve heard. Songs such 100 Degrees and Dolla provoke thoughts that commercialized music such as Lollipop by Lil Wayne or Put On by Young Jeezy will never come close to touching (rapping about vegetables is funny, but c’mon, seriously?). If you’ve ever heard The Rising Tied, you’ll understand some of the draw that Mike Shinoda has when rapping.
Another benefit of the album is that it’s free. Yes, you read that last sentence right, the album is free. However, you should still donate some money to Fort Minor if you like the songs to support their efforts. There are a few songs that are just remixes from The Rising Tide, but they are still entertaining to listen to. Follow the link for the songs. We Major: Mixtape
